Russian Hoversurf startup has opened pre-orders for its flying Scorpion 3 motorcycle. Anyone can leave a request on the company’s official website given that the money needed for the electric hoverbike is available.
The device is classified as an ultra-light vehicle that allows you to fly without a pilot’s license (in the United States, in accordance with a document issued by the United States Federal Aviation Administration). Scorpion 3 will go on sale more refined and improved. Thus, a flying motorcycle has received a carbon fiber frame, thanks to which it lightened up to 114 kg, a new 12.3 kW/h hybrid lithium-manganese-nickel battery capable of providing 10 to 25 minutes of flight depending on the weather and weight of the pilot, as well as remote control with 40 minutes of flight in an unmanned mode. According to Hoversurf representatives, Hoverbike will fit in a standard doorway. It will be able to take off and land from the usual parking space.
For the safety of the pilot and those around, the multicopter propellers are made not of metal, but of birch plywood, which has proved to be a reliable and durable material. In case a part of the body touches the screw, the person will not be cut. Instead, the screw will break into pieces. For additional security, the rider should be dressed in a suit with tough protection.
Hoverbike can fly at a height of 16 meters above the ground, reaching a maximum speed of 96 km per hour, although the latter will be limited by the legal speed in each country. According to our recommendations, a safe flight altitude is 5 meters above the ground, but the pilot himself can adjust the limit for his comfort.
Buyers can pre-order Hoverbike with a deposit of 10,000 USD, whereas the full price is estimated as 150,000 USD. Deliveries are scheduled starting from next year, but the Dubai Police Department is believed to fully redeem the first batch.
