After the information leak in early September, Honor at last officially presented their latest smartphone, Honor Magic 2. The device is remarkable since it boasts the largest number of cameras found in a smartphone – there are three of them on each side.
Honor Magic 2 is almost completely frameless with an 84.8% ratio of display to front panel. The 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with the Full HD+ resolution (2340×1080 pixels, sides ratio 19:9, pixel density 403 ppi, and the area of 91.5%) does not have an unsightly cutout in the iPhone X style. Instead, there is a sub-screen fingerprint scanner. To achieve these indicators, Honor, like the recently released Mi Mix 3 from Xiaomi, used a slider mechanism that hides the smartphone speaker and the front camera with a triple lens of 16 megapixel + 2 megapixel + 2 megapixel in the removable back panel. The camera of the new smartphone has an improved portrait lighting, improved bokeh effects and a special function which automatically improves the user’s appearance. A 3D face scan and FullHD video recording at 30 fps are supported.
This is due to the AI Honor technology, which has appeared in the company’s latest smartphones, including Honor Play and Honor 10. The latest HiSilicon Kirin 980 chip developed by the company uses the 7 nm manufacturing process and has been installed in Honor Magic 2. The latest Huawei Mate 20 Pro is based on the same principle. The novelty is interesting due to the rear camera with three lenses in the configuration of 16 megapixel, 24 megapixel and 16 megapixel (main, wide-angle and monochrome). The camera is capable of recording video clips with the resolutions up to 2160p and 30 frames per second.
As for the internal memory, users will receive either 128 GB or 256 GB. A little later, the manufacturer is expected to introduce Honor Magic 2 with 512 GB of flash memory. With regard to RAM, users can choose between 6 and 8 GB configurations.
Among other things, Honor Magic 2 has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, a slot for two nanoSIM-cards, 4G LTE network support, 3400 mAh battery with the Magic Charge (it takes half an hour to recover the charge up to 85%), and Android OS 9.0 Pie with the brand Magic UI 2.0 cover. The headphone jack is missing. The physical parameters of the novelty are 157.32 x 75.13 x 8.3 mm, and the weight is 206 g.
Honor Magic 2 with 6/128 GB of memory will be sold for $545, the model with 8/128 GB of memory will be available at $615, and the version for 8/256 GB will cost $690. The top version of the smartphone is expected in December, but its price is not reported. The case comes in three colors: silver, blue and pink. The package includes a branded cover.
