In recent years, a number of companies manufacturing electric vehicles have been working actively to create single-seaters. The goal was to reach top maneuverability in city conditions. But many of them think about how an electric car with a significant capacity should look like.
The iEV 1 team from Dusseldorf has demonstrated its own version of a small electric vehicle, called iEV X. It can change its dimensions taking into account the changing needs of the owners. For example, if a second passenger appears or you need to transport a bulky cargo.
The dimensions of the single-seater modification are 78×160 centimeters. If the load increases, a special sliding mechanism increases the parameters to 190 and 220 centimeters, respectively. A second seat behind can be folded, while the sides remain open.
According to the project, the base model weighs 115 kilograms. It was equipped with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. It is designed for a run of 60 kilometers at an auto speed of 45 kilometers per hour. During parking, the battery is charged from a 40-watt solar panel.
The performance of the iEV X+ model is higher. Its weight is 145 kilograms, the battery is designed for 72 volts. The mileage was increased to 120 kilometers, and the speed reached 60 kilometers per hour. The solar panel has 60 watts.
The developers want to equip the new product with an automatic robotic charging system and pedals that will control the battery power. There are additional functions: a wide-angle rear view camera, side water-repellent mirrors, a 7-inch touch screen, a LED lighting system, a steel chassis, and aluminum body panels. The cost of the basic model starts from €2,650. It is not specified how well iEV X can protect its driver in case of a road accident.
