The use of virtual reality technology in gaming and business can be expanded after the widespread introduction of peripheral equipment from Virtuix startup called Omni One. The company is currently raising funds for a VR treadmill project that takes virtual reality to the next level.
Omni One is a complete fitness controller that allows you to perform numerous dynamic exercises. The user will be able not only to run and walk but also jump and squat, while being in one place. The creation of a full-fledged commercial version of the smart VR fitness simulator is planned for the summer of 2021.
Unlike traditional treadmills, Omni One is an extremely slippery platform that reduces friction. To work with the simulator, the user will need to put on special pads on the shoes, which also have a reduced coefficient of friction. The user’s safety is ensured by the central bar, which must be fastened with belts before starting exercises. The user only needs to connect a virtual reality headset and start training.
Omni One takes up significantly less space than traditional workout equipment. The vertical bar, to which the user is attached, provides not only free movement in the virtual space in all directions, but also guarantees safety in the real world. Instead of a regular treadmill belt, Omni One has an octagonal platform recessed towards the center.
Another way to use Omni One is in gaming applications. The developers already claim support of 30 games from the special store, among which you can find such popular games as Fortnite and Call of Duty.
A full-fledged Omni One with a VR headset is priced at $1,995, and a headset-free developer kit for entertainment gaming systems will cost $975 in retail shops. The first deliveries of commercial samples are scheduled to begin in the second half of the summer of 2021.
