The next, fourth generation of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold foldable smartphones will be launched in the second half of 2022, along with the updated Galaxy Z Flip 4 models. For the fourth year in a row, Samsung has been promoting foldable smartphones to the market and sold 8 million units last year, which is three times more than in 2020. For 2022, the South Korean concern planned to sell a record 1.3 million folding smartphones (1% of the global market).
The Korean edition of The Elec has a preview of the future Galaxy Z Fold 4. It is assumed that this year Samsung developers will concentrate on improving the stability, reliability of the case and mechanisms of the device. The main advantage of the future Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be the presence of a built-in S Pen stylus, support for which was introduced in the Fold series in the Galaxy Z Fold 3, presented in August 2021.
Other features of the design of Galaxy Z Fold 4 will remain similar to the previous series. The smartphone will also receive two screens: a large folding screen with a diagonal of 7.56 inches (Galaxy Z Fold 3 model – 7.55 inches) and an external additional one with a diagonal of 6.19 inches (Galaxy Z Fold 3 – 6.2 inches).
Other details about the technical parameters and design have not been reported yet. Previously, the insiders assumed that Galaxy Z Fold 4 could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and would receive a triple main camera.
It is also reported that Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will retain a 6.7-inch foldable display and get a 1.9-inch screen protector (compared to 1.83 inches for the Z Flip 3).
