The coronavirus pandemic has forced humanity to use robots more actively to solve special and everyday tasks. The easily recognizable Spot Robot, created by Boston Dynamics, was one of the first to help the people, who need to observe the standards of sanitary measures during quarantine, while working and having a rest.
Spot gains the first experience during quarantine as it monitors compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards in the Bishan Ang Mo Kio City Park, located in Singapore. A dog-like tireless and impartial robot walks along the alleys of the park and broadcasts a recorded message about the need to comply with safety standards during an epidemic. Park guests are warned about the need to treat mechanical assistants properly.
The Spot robot is equipped with additional video cameras that allow you to record and estimate the number of visitors in the park. The robot carries out its control remotely, and its design includes sensors that prevent a collision with an obstacle or people. The authorities of Singapore, represented by the Council of National Parks, assured citizens that the data obtained by video shooting are not used to identify individuals and to collect confidential information.
Robotic mechanisms are already being used to monitor compliance with epidemiological restrictions. In China and the United States, drones warn and strongly recommend that people strictly adhere to sanitary standards and social distance.
Knightscope security robots broadcast pandemic behaviors in the form of a strong warning of social distance and a humorous hygiene message. “Washing hands is fun! Oh wait … I have no hands, ”the robot is trying to amuse the citizens.
Spot Dog Robots not only make announcements in the parks. Earlier, it was reported that the robot uses telemetry tools to test and carry out initial sorting of patients in the Boston hospital. This will protect doctors and minimize the risks of COVID-19 disease.
