Los Angeles-based startup Eli Electric Vehicles, which specializes in the development of compact electric vehicles for urban travel, announced the start of production of the miniature electric vehicle Eli Zero. At the first stage, the company plans to release a small batch of two-seater electric vehicles for distributors in 10 European countries. For several months, the car will be on sale in Europe for $11,999.
The main advantages of the new Eli Zero are its small size and use of recycled polypropylene and increased strength aluminum. Eli Zero’s travel speed will be limited to 40 km/h, and the autonomous travel radius will be 80 km.
The compact two-seater Eli Zero has dimensions of 2.1×1.3×1.5 meters, and the volume of the cabin is only 160 liters. Autonomous travel is provided by a 5.8 kWh battery, which allows you to travel up to 80 km on a single battery charge. A full charge from 0 to 100% using a standard 220 V electrical network takes only 2.5 hours.
The Eli Zero has recuperative brakes, power steering, a rear camera and a parking sensor. Inside the cabin, there is an air conditioner, USB for charging gadgets and a cup holder, and there is a sunroof. The dashboard features a 7-inch display.
Eli Zero’s body will be painted pearl white and silver, while the premium class will be available in graphite black and blue. According to the developers, the development of the car in the United States is hampered by various laws in each state regarding the use of compact cars in urban environments.
