The new McLaren Special Operations limited edition car, Saber, has long attracted genuine interest from specialists, insiders and engineers due to the unique characteristics promised by the McLaren company. However, the reality turned out to be a little more mundane – the Saber car will be produced in a limited edition of 15 cars, which have already been purchased by pre-order. The technical parameters will allow the supercar to be driven only in the USA.
The announcement of the first test of Saber at a private circuit in California was made by the McLaren Beverly Hills dealer. In fact, the new car is a modified version of the Senna model released three years ago. Meanwhile, the developers insist that Saber will become the most powerful non-hybrid supercar with an internal combustion engine.
It is known that the new McLaren Saber is equipped with a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the power of which is 835 hp, with 800 Nm of torque. The most powerful Senna LM so far had more modest parameters – 825 hp, 800 Nm. The maximum speed of Saber, 351 km/h, is not a record for a McLaren car, since the Speedtail hybrid model reached 401 km/h.
Given that the US has the most liberal requirements for the technical parameters of cars, McLaren developers said that the designers were able to apply a number of modifications that prevent the Saber supercar from entering the world market. Even in the UK, which is McLaren’s domestic market, Saber owners will not be able to test the driving performance of the new product.
Each of the 15 released models will have unique features and design. The happy customers traveled to England to the McLaren design studio to agree on the final look of the Saber and also participated in prototype testing at the private Thermal Club circuit in California. Currently, neither the exact parameters nor the price of the Saber model are known.
