Sony has announced the release of the updated wearable Reon Pocket 2 air conditioner, which is controlled via a mobile app and replaces the first device launched in the summer of 2020. Maintaining external parameters thanks to the significant improvements of the internal components, the next generation of Sony’s mobile air conditioner will provide twice the heat extraction than previous Reon Pocket models. Case protection against moisture (sweat) penetration will allow using Reon Pocket 2 when playing sports, in particular, when playing golf.
Unlike Reon Pocket, Sony’s new mobile air conditioner will be more versatile. The first modification could only be used with special Sony shirts that have special pockets. Reon Pocket 2 is available for use with third-party clothing, for which Sony has partnered with sportswear brands Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear, and Descente, which specializes in golf apparel.
In addition, Sony engineers have developed a special neck strap that will allow the Reon Pocket 2 mobile air conditioner to be worn with ordinary clothes without the need to purchase special T-shirts with pockets.
Today, the Reon Pocket 2 air conditioner is sold in Japan for the equivalent of $138. The release of a global version of Sony’s mobile air conditioner has not been announced yet.
