Chinese company DJI, a world leader in the design and manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles, has unveiled the new DJI Air 2S drone to replace the Mavic Air 2. The new model features a camera with a uniquely large sensor, increased flight range and increased sensitivity of sensors that detect obstacles.
The main advantage of the DJI Air 2S UAV is the 1-inch optical sensor, which provides the ability to shoot at a resolution of up to 20 megapixels, record videos in 5.4K resolution at 30 fps, in 4K resolution at 60 fps, and at the same time provide a data transfer rate of up to 150 Mbps.
The previous model, the Mavic Air 2, was limited to shooting 12MP photos and shooting 4K video at 60fps with data rates up to 120Mbps. The new model also implements 4x digital zoom when shooting 4K video at 30 fps.
The DJI Air 2S drone supports the new SmartPhoto function, which allows you to take continuous shots and then select the highest quality photos. In low light conditions, Hyperlight mode is activated, and when shooting at night, the trajectory and shooting style are controlled by the automatic MasterShots mode. The FocusTrack function will allow the drone to follow the selected object or track it through the camera.
The DJI Air 2S upgrade has resulted in a slight increase in drone weight to 595 grams, compared to 570 grams in Mavic Air 2. As a result, autonomous flight time decreased from 33 to 31 minutes, but at the same time the distance that the drone can fly away from the owner increased to 12 km.
The obstacle detection system has received two new additional sensors, so there are four of them now. As a result, the DJI Air 2S is more maneuverable and capable of flying around obstacles without slowing down.
The basic version of the DJI Air 2S drone will go on sale for $999. The Fly More kit with an additional two batteries, a charging dock, a carrying bag and polarizing filters for the camera are priced at $1299.
