Individual urban vehicles are becoming more convenient, efficient and compact thanks to the use of heavy-duty structural materials and original engineering solutions. HiMo Electric Technology startup has introduced the HiMo electric bike on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. It folds easily and can always be with the owner.
A small but quite powerful electric bike with 7-inch wheels is able to move at a maximum speed of 18 km/h, covering the distance of 30 km. Low weight (14.5 kg) and an effective system of operational folding of the bike will allow you to take HiMo with you to the office, underground or even an airplane (when the battery is removed). When folded, the bike has the dimensions of 455x320x330 mm.
HiMo is driven by a 180W electric motor, rear-wheel drive and a 7500 mAh battery. The design of the battery weighing 1.8 kg makes it easy to dismantle and replace it with a spare one. Charging the battery takes from 4 to 6 hours, and it is designed for 1500 charge cycles.
The control system is enclosed in a compact unit located on the steering and has a LED display that informs about the speed, the battery charge, and the headlight settings. Power, speed and headlights are controlled with a single button.
HiMo’s decent engineering work is rewarded with Reddot’s Industrial Design Award. Each of the 200 parts, 40 molds and bike settings has undergone rigorous testing during the two years of development.
The HiMo project has already raised about 190,000 dollars on Indiegogo a week before the end of the fundraising period. The initial sum required for the production was $10,000. You can order HiMo for $469, and the first models will go to customers in May this year.
