A popular Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, said that the company will earn two trillion dollars on its new products: services, augmented reality glasses, and the self-driving Apple Car.
Kuo predicted the launch of Apple Car between 2023 and 2025. He believes that Apple Car will revolutionize the car market in the same way as the iPhone did in 2007.
Kuo believes that the automotive sector needs updating because new technologies are being implemented. Apple, in his opinion, can better integrate hardware, software and services than car giants do.
Kuo’s suggestion about Apple launching a full-fledged Apple Car is interesting because, according to rumors, this was Apple’s initial plan, but then they focused on unmanned auto software. Apple has been testing and developing its autonomous software on Lexus SUVs with unmanned equipment since early 2017.
Before the project was postponed, Apple, as numerous insiders said, had developed a self-driving electric car. Apple met with manufacturers, such as Magna Steyr and BMW, and explored a number of technologies: silent motorized doors, a car without a steering wheel or a gas pedal, an advanced LIDAR sensor and spherical wheels. However, it is not known whether the company will use them, if the project of the car will, indeed, be revived.
Kuo believes that Apple also plans to present AR-glasses in 2020, and this is logical given the last year’s announcement of its own ARKit Augmented Reality platform. It is believed that smart glasses will receive a separate display, built-in processor and a new operating system.
As for services, Kuo did not provide any details. He just said that Apple will continue conquering this market, which seems logical, given the $9 billion profit that they brought.
