Robots to Assist The Olympics 2020 in Tokyo

Volunteers at the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020 in Tokyo will be replaced by various robots. The devices will be able to meet visitors, assist them, take pictures, help disabled people and so on.

Someity and Miraitowa are the two main robots from Toyota, they are the real talismans of next year’s games. Robots will be present at all major events, meeting guests and taking photos. Their eyes can move, as well as display reactions. The devices are also capable of moving their legs and arms. The manufacturer wants to distribute such toy-like talismans throughout Japan so that the residents of remote cities could join the international event held in their country.

Toyota also has a humanoid T-HR3 robot with similar functions. It will attend major events, broadcasting them with sound and video. This robot will also help viewers to communicate with athletes. T-TR1, another robot, will allow athletes and fans to communicate remotely. It is a large wheeled display with speakers, camera and microphones. All this equipment will allow people from other cities to attend the Olympics and communicate with the participants and the audience.

For the grandstands, there are two robots: the DSR (Delivery Support Robot) and the HSR (Human Support Robot) assistant. The first one will carry food and drinks around the stadium. A special tablet will allow you to order food and drinks that the deliveryman will then bring. The support robot will help the viewers find their way in sectors, deliver small things, such as souvenirs, and will also be able to assist people with movement disorders.
