Water is one of the most insidious and dangerous elements for humans. Providing the drowning man with timely help is the key to his salvation. The water rescue service now has many different means to fulfill their functions: specially trained people, water transport, and technical means. Dolphin 1 Smart Lifebuoy rescue vehicle manufactured by the Hong Kong-based OceanAlpha company is the latest invention in this industry.
In water, it behaves like a buoy, which is remotely controlled by a lifeguard. The device can reach the speed of 15 km/h. The battery lasts for 30 minutes in the water. The wireless range for buoy control is 500 meters. Using the remote control, you can return the device to its original position, even if it is turned upside down among strong waves.
The device is quite reliable, it has the size of 115×83×21 cm. A weakened person can lie on it and get hold of the ropes fixed to the sides of the buoy. If the drowning person is in poor condition and does not inspire confidence that he/she will be able to climb a rescue buoy on their own, a rescue worker can be sent from the shore, and another lifeguard will be in charge of controlling the buoy in the water.
The buoy weighs 13 kg and can hold two adults, as well as tow to the shore an additional couple of people holding onto the ropes. Nothing of the equipment can harm people: a bright orange plastic case is equipped with a bumper in the front, which protects against shock in case of an accidental collision with a drowning person; two screws are hidden in metal shells and do not pose danger to people in the water.
OceanAlpha has launched the new product into mass production. The preliminary price is $5,500 for one unit of Dolphin 1 Smart Lifebuoy.
