While the automotive giants are competing and striving to become the first to bring flying cars to the market, the small startup PAL-V International B.V. from Holland has already started the pre-sale of the Pioneer Personal Air Landing Vehicle (PAL-V) device, using hybrid methods of transportation. A prototype of the flying vehicle was demonstrated at an exhibition in Miami.
The design of the PAL-V vehicle contains elements of both a traditional land vehicle and an ordinary helicopter. Traditional, standard gasoline, intended for passenger cars, is used as the power-generating fuel. The maximum speed when moving on the road is 161 km/h, and the flight speed is exactly two times higher and will be 322 km/h.
The design of the propellers of the flying machine uses the principle of the gyroplane, which creates a lift due to the rotor freely rotating in the autorotation mode. In the land mode, the blades fold, and the car complies with all the driving regulations.
The company has already received 70 pre-orders for the Pioneer Personal Air Landing Vehicle, which are scheduled to enter the market in 2021. The price of new items is within the range of $599,000.
