LG Comes up with the Tiniest Bluetooth Module

The ever-expanding ecosystem of the Internet of Things (IoT) requires new compact solutions for modules that support communication between high-tech gadgets. Another invention of LG engineers will improve the reliability of the IoT system, provide better audio transmission to wireless headphones, and improve the reliability of fitness bracelets. LG сomes up with the tiniest Bluetooth module, the size of which is comparable to a grain of rice.

The new Bluetooth module measures 6×4 mm, which is almost 25% smaller than the smallest similar modules from Japanese manufacturers. The use of high-precision technology has made it possible to use up to 20 components in a tiny module, such as a communication chip, a resistor, and an inductor.

Despite its small size, the device received a 30% improvement in technical parameters related to data transmission. Thus, according to the LG Innotek developers, the new module will be able to efficiently transmit data in rooms with many obstacles. The antenna, which is integrated into the module, has a larger area and provides a more stable connection.

A study by analytical companies concluded that the growth in the number of devices in the IoT ecosystem will increase the demand for Bluetooth modules this year from 980 million to 1.749 billion units. LG Innotek plans to enter the global market with new modules and is already working with medical companies, which produce patch blood glucose meters.
