Amazon has unveiled the Amazon Halo cloud service and the Amazon Halo Band fitness bracelet, which are designed to monitor the user’s health.
Amazon Halo Band and Amazon Halo service work together. Halo Band differs from modern bracelets, as it does not have a screen, and all information is displayed in an application on a smartphone. It has an accelerometer, temperature sensor, heart rate sensor, and a pair of microphones that can be disabled.
Health is much more than just the number of steps you take per day or the number of hours you sleep. According to Maulik Majmudar, Chief Medical Officer for Amazon Halo, the Amazon Halo invention combines the latest achievements in medicine, high-precision data from Halo Band sensors, and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence to offer a more holistic approach to improving your health and well-being.
The system takes into account the nature and intensity of movements, as well as movements, pulse and skin temperature during sleep, after which everything is converted into points according to the recommendations of the American Heart Association.
You can also assess the state of your body: photos will be analyzed using computer vision and machine learning. The result is a 3D body model with fat percentage and body mass index.
In addition, the AI will be able to rate your voice in terms of energy and positivity. This way you can understand how your voice sounds to others and when you are being rude without noticing it.
Amazon Halo also offers training and guidance. All data is confidential and will be deleted from the company’s servers after analysis and the result are obtained.
The bracelet is waterproof, it withstands diving to a depth of 50 meters. One charge lasts 7 days, if voice recognition is disabled, or 2 days when it is enabled. A full charge takes about 90 minutes.
At first, Amazon Halo will cost $65, after a while the price will rise to $100. This price includes a six-month Amazon Halo subscription, after which the membership is automatically renewed for $4 per month. Without a subscription, the access to features will be limited.
The bracelet will be offered in three sizes and three capsule colors (Onyx, Silver, Rose Gold). For now, there are three strap colors to choose from, but then new colors will be added. Fabric straps can be purchased for $19.99, and silicone ones – for $15.99.
