Super Fast Xiaomi Power Bank Charges a Smartphone in Just 17 Minutes

Xiaomi CEO, Lin Bin, demonstrated an incredibly fast charging technology in his own Weibo-account. Super Charge Turbo will be officially announced in the very near future. It includes an adapter with a capacity of 100 watts (20V / 5A). The smartphone with a 4000 mAh battery charges from the new product in just 17 minutes.

In his video report, Lin Bin compared Xiaomi Super Charge Turbo technology with the OPPO SuperVOOC, the current record holder for ultra-fast wired charging. The latter is based on a 50-watt adapter (10V / 5A). During 17 minutes, he managed to charge the 3700 mAh battery only up to 65%.

Already released Xiaomi smartphones support charging with a maximum power of 27W. Perhaps this is only a theoretical maximum. After all, the flagship Mi 9 model is being completed with an adapter for only 18W.

However, Super Charge Turbo is not likely to appear so soon in the gadgets of this manufacturer. It is more likely that this will happen no earlier than the release of the next Mi 10 flagship model. Moreover, the influence of the Super Charge Turbo technology on the durability of the battery of mobile equipment has not been established yet. Ultrafast charging may significantly shorten their lifespan.
