Microsoft has announced the next generation of Surface Pro tablets. According to the developers, the new Microsoft Surface Pro 8 has received the largest update since the Surface Pro 3, introduced in 2014. The tablets boast 120Hz refresh rates, thinner bezels, Thunderbolt 4 support, and a new keyboard with storage space for the Surface Slim Pen 2.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 8’s screen has got a 13-inch PixelSense Flow display (the Surface Pro 7 had a 12.3-inch screen). The adaptive screen refresh rate varies from 60 to 120 Hz. Support for Dolby Vision and Adaptive Color Technology has been implemented. Thinner bezels make the tablet look like Surface Pro X.
The hardware base of the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 tablet is powered by 11th Gen Intel Core processors. Depending on the modification, the tablets are equipped with an i5-1135G7 or i7-1185G7 chip with an integrated Intel Xe graphics card. The amount of RAM can be 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB. Permanent memory ranges from 128 GB to 1 TB.
Surface Pro 8 has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 modules and a 3.5 headphone jack. Instead of a USB-A port, the device gets two USB-C 4.0/Thunderbolt 4 connectors, which will allow you to connect external displays, external storage or a GPU to the tablet. Surface Pro 8 charges through the Surface Connect. Its battery will provide battery life for 16 hours.
The main camera of the tablet has a sensor with a resolution of 10 megapixels, which supports shooting video in the 4K format. The front camera gets a 5MP sensor and provides enhanced image quality when working at night.
The new Surface Pro Signature Keyboard comes with the next generation Surface Slip Pen 2, which recharges while stored inside the keyboard. The stylus is powered by the Microsoft G6 processor, and the vibration motor simulates a tactile sensation similar to writing on paper. The redesigned tip of the Surface Slip Pen 2 demonstrates reduced lag and improved drawing accuracy.
The base configuration of the Surface Pro 8, powered by a Core i5-1135G7 processor with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, will come to retail shops at the price of $1,099. The body of the tablet will receive two colors: Graphite and Platinum. The sales start date will be announced later.
