Everyone must have come across a situation when they fell ill and needed a thermometer in order to roughly understand the scale of the disaster, but there was none. Such a moment can happen during a journey, a trip by car, or on vacation. A Kickstarter project called TempBuddy aims to solve this problem.
This is a miniature thermometer that can be hung like a key chain. It connects to a smartphone and instantly allows you to measure the temperature of a body or any object.
The thermometer itself is non-contact and does not require a power source. However, having the device itself is not enough. To use it, you need to install the application on your phone.
TempBuddy weighs only 20 grams and is 5 centimeters long. The device was originally developed as an ultra-portable gadget and fully matches this definition.
As the creators note, measuring body temperature is far from all that the device is capable of. It can help find out the temperature of water, milk, coffee or food. The device operates in the range from 0 to 100 °C.
Using the mobile application, you can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, create profiles for multiple users, and systematically track data about each profile owner.
