Lenovo has announced the creation of a serial device called the Go Wireless Charging Kit, which allows you to wirelessly recharge the battery of almost any laptop. Power by Contact technology from Energy Square is used for wireless charging.
The Go Wireless Charging Kit by Lenovo consists of two parts, a 3.2mm thick metal charging mat and an extended wireless charging adapter. The mat is placed on the working surface of the desk and is connected to the electrical network through a standard outlet. The wireless charging adapter connects to your laptop via the USB-C connector and attaches to the laptop base.
Lenovo says the Go Wireless Charging Kit can be used with any “non-touchscreen notebook up to 65W.” The efficiency of the charger is 93%. Recharging is suitable for both Windows and macOS laptops.
Earlier, laptop manufacturers have tried to implement wireless charging for laptops. In 2017, Dell released a serial 12-inch Latitude 7285 laptop with a detachable keyboard for wireless charging and a wireless charging mat for $550. Intel tried unsuccessfully to introduce Rezence magnetic resonance charging technology for 2-in-1 notebooks, but the idea was not implemented into mass production.
The Lenovo Go Wireless Charging Kit will hit the market in October 2021 for about $140 and will be part of the Lenovo Go series, which will also include a Qi-enabled external wireless battery, wireless computer mice, headphones, and a keyboard.
