After appearing at an auto show in 2013 for the first time, Devel Sixteen remains a mystery even now. Many even thought it was fake. According to the developers from Defining Extreme Vehicles Car Industry, the car is equipped with an incredible 5000-horsepower engine and can reach 560 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.8 seconds.
An American company, Steve Morris Engines (SME), worked on the monstrous engine for two years. The 16-cylinder engine has a V-shaped configuration. Four high-pressure turbochargers, as it is claimed, will increase the capacity up to 5000 hp. Switchable engines of 1200 and 2500 hp are available for everyday driving.
The first working prototype of the engine has already been tested on a chassis dynamometer. It showed the incredible 4515 hp and 4766 Nm – the limit of the measuring equipment, not the engine.
The car’s body is made of carbon fiber and is set on an aluminum frame, which is mounted around carbon fiber monocoque.
The price tag on the monstrous Devel Sixteen has not yet been made public, but, according to the company’s top management, they already have the first customers.
The new effective engine allows us to say for sure: Devel Sixteen will live! However, there are a lot of bottlenecks in its design. The hypercar needs a new gearbox and tires to withstand the stated speed of 560 km/h.
