The TV Era Is Over: Epson Comes up with LS100 Projector

Do we still need TVs? It is this question that can be considered the motto of the presentation of the short-focus laser projector LS100, produced by Epson. Now you just need to have an even wall opposite the couch to watch movies and programs in high definition at home

First of all, this projector can be used even in a small apartment, where the distance to the walls is not big. LS100 requires 40 cm to the “screen”.

In addition, the new projector from Epson projects a really big picture – with a diagonal of up to 130 inches (or up to 330 cm). And for this purpose it does not need to be far from the screen. The manufacturer claims that if you bring the projector 6 cm closer to the wall onto which the image will be broadcast, you can get a 70-inch diagonal frame. This allows you to vary the size of the picture, which is absolutely impossible with the fixed parameters of any TV-set.

However, the projector is not a TV. And many have doubts how high the image quality is. The manufacturer says that the viewer will not feel any difference when watching it. This is facilitated by the unique characteristics of the LS100 product:

  • the brightness of the projector is 4000 lumens;
  • the contrast ratio is 2500000: 1.

Such parameters allow using the projector even in the daytime, under bright light. There is no loss in the saturation of colors.

In addition, LS100 has 16 W speakers. The “Detail Enhancement” technology is used, which makes the image smooth and even.

Full HD resolution is supported. Access to the content is via three HDMI inputs. There is an opportunity to connect to game consoles, to a DVD player, and other equipment.

You can control the projector via a smartphone using the special “Epson iProjection” application. Even a newcomer will cope with this task.

LS100 Projector is designed for about 20 years of trouble-free operation provided that you watch movies and broadcasts or play games no more than 4 hours a day. The manufacturer gives a warranty for 5 years or for 12,000 hours of operation. Everything depends on what comes first.

An additional advantage of the LS100 gadget is its dimensions: the weight is 11 kg, the width is 49 cm, and the height reaches only 19 cm. So there will be no problems with the installation. In addition, the projector has a vertical and horizontal correction for its position.

LS100 should go on sale at the end of 2017, and it will cost almost $3000.
