Kodak Launches a Compact Film Scanner

Digital photography is actively developing. However, classic film still has a lot of fans. Kodak decided to simplify the process of scanning developed images. The company offered an affordable smartphone-compatible cardboard scanner.

Negatives are suggested to be mounted in a special holder designed for 35-mm color or black-and-white film. LED backlight is mounted on the case below. A smartphone is placed on top of the scanner so that the main camera looks down. Kodak has created a special free Android and iOS application that allows you to customize the scanning process.

The mobile film scanner requires neither special equipment nor a complex procedure for converting negatives. You only need your smartphone. The technology, according to the developers, is effective and simple. A platform is assembled from cardboard. Next, lights are switched on, and film is installed.

Processing takes place in the KODAK Mobile Film Scanner app. It will help to adjust the images: apply filters, add text, crop the photos and so on. Then you can share the results in any social network. The scanner costs 40 dollars. If you register on the manufacturer’s official website, you will get an additional discount of 10%. The scanner will go on sale in the upcoming months.
