The MobiScribe E Ink touchscreen device is designed not only to provide convenient e-book reading and page-turning but also making records and drawing with a stylus. The Wacom digital pen that is included in the set registers 4096 pressure levels.
According to the manufacturer, the 220-gram device is equipped with a 6.8-inch Carta touchscreen display with a resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels and a display of 16 levels of gray. You can control the device with both the stylus and your fingers. The concept of MobiScribe is very different from the concept of ordinary e-books: the creators of the device attached great importance to the function of notes, imitating natural writing experience. The back of the stylus functions as an eraser. Different backgrounds are available, for example, for regular records or for creating musical compositions.
The Freescale iMX6 Gigaherz processor on Cortex-A9 cores with a frequency of 1 GHz in combination with 512 MB of RAM is also designed to work with PDF documents. The 8 GB eMMC memory can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card. The 802.11 b/g /n Wi-Fi module will facilitate rapid synchronization with another device for transferring and copying documents, notes and pictures. The built-in battery with a capacity of 1,500 mAh is enough for a week of autonomous use, but only if Wi-Fi is turned off. Thus, the developers recommend enabling this option only when needed, since a permanent Wi-Fi connection drains the battery dramatically.
MobiScribe can be pre-ordered on Indiegogo for $ 214. The delivery should be launched as early as next month. The downside of the tablet e-book is its operating system – Android 4.4, which is currently too outdated. The dimensions of the device are 17.5 x 13.2 x 1 cm.
