Within the framework of ChinaJoy (China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference), which is the largest exhibition in Asia, the American Raytheon brand demonstrated the conceptual notebook called Uncia. The company positions its gadget as the first gaming laptop on the planet, protected from dust and water in accordance with the IP68 standard.
This protection is typically complemented by military or industrial models. Raytheon Uncia is more like a traditional laptop for ordinary users. If you read the history of the company, everything gets clear. Raytheon is one of the largest military industrial companies in America that supplies military equipment and weapons.
During the show, the company representatives placed a 13-inch laptop in a transparent cube filled with water. According to the IP68 standard, Raytheon Uncia can be safely immersed under water to the depth of 1 meter and kept there for half an hour.
The novelty is based on Intel Core i7-8550U of the 8th generation with the possibility of reaching 4 GHz. Interestingly enough, there are no fans in the gadget, and its power consumption is only 15 Wh.
The lid with the display can be turned 360°. By the way, the gadget weighs only 1.1 kilograms and is only 12.7 millimeters thick.
The date of release and the approximate cost of the gadget have not been announced yet.
