Since 2015, Sony engineers have switched to self-sustaining projects in Japan and are working through the crowdfunding system, receiving funds for the implementation of ideas from consumers. Since last year, the Japanese company has used a similar method when launching FES Watch U in Europe. In 2019, the developers of the Wena Wrist smartwatch strap began working in England.
The principle of the new invention is the introduction of electronic filling in the strap of a regular wristwatch. Basic Wena Wrist bracelets are equipped with LEDs, and more advanced models are already using an OLED screen that allows you to place up to 2 lines of text. Smart metal bracelets Wena Wrist Pro will be able to display messages from a smartphone, pay for purchases using NFC technology and will have a built-in pedometer. The device is run on Android and iOS. The strap width is 20 mm, and interchangeable mounts allow connecting watches with 18, 20 and 22 mm wide fasteners.
The Wena Wrist Active strap is made of silicone and has, among other things, a GPS and a heart rate sensor. It can be used individually without a watch. The watch module can be easily dismantled or installed in place. The battery in both straps lasts for a week.
The Wena Wrist Active can be purchased for $450, and the Wena Wrist Pro is offered for $510. At the same time, the watches offered in the set can be bought at the price of $130-510.
