The mobile handheld printer Selpic P1, developed by the Selpic startup, will make it much easier for users to create small inscriptions and markings; apply QR and bar codes, photographs and logos on different surfaces. The first reports of a new, fully autonomous portable printer appeared about a month ago. At present, the company has brought the project to the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform, offering Selpic P1 at a pre-order price of $99.
The main feature of Selpic P1 will be the ability to print user-pronounced text. In addition, a multipurpose printer will be able to reproduce inscriptions not only on paper, but on virtually any surface.
The Selpic P1 mechanism is designed to best meet the user’s needs and allows inscriptions to be applied at any angle in any orientation, including vertical and horizontal. Printing from left to right and right to left is also available.
Using a built-in microphone in a smartphone, the Selpic P1 application can convert spoken words into text. The developers declare the use of extremely high-quality speech recognition technology.
The Selpic P1 inkjet printer is equipped with 300 nozzles that allow printing in resolution 600×600 DPI. The total capacity of the printer is 18 million drops per second. Changing cartridges takes a few seconds. The company offers 8 different color cartridges, allowing you to leave inscriptions on surfaces with different backgrounds.
The weight of the device is 91 grams, and its compact dimensions (130x31x24 mm) make it possible to carry the printer in your pocket. Selpic P1 runs on Android, Windows and iOS. Communication is carried out via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The self-sufficiency is provided by a battery with a capacity of 210 mAch. There is a USB-C connector.
The expected delivery time for the first pre-ordered Selpic P1 printers is September 2020. During the first 24 hours, the project raised $20,000 on Indiegogo, an amount that was one and a half times more than required to get started.
