At the traditional Inno Day 2020 events in China, OPPO announced an improved version of last year’s glasses called OPPO AR Glass 2021.
The base model was presented at Inno Day 2019. The updated version has become much more practical and similar to regular sunglasses and also received an updated hardware base. OPPO AR Glass 2021 weighs 75% less than the last year’s model.
The hardware of the OPPO AR Glass 2021, which has a 0.71-inch OLED screen, is powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor. Connecting to a smartphone via a USB-C to USB-C cable and a top-end chip significantly increase the performance of the glasses. A paired smartphone can be used as a touch panel.
An optical system with dual stereo cameras, a depth sensor and an RGB camera, a tunable high-amplitude speaker and a unique acoustic design with a semi-open rear resonator create a home theater experience. According to the developers, it feels like watching video on a 90-inch screen from a distance of 3 meters. OPPO AR Glass 2021 is controlled with gestures.
Using glasses, you can not only play video and play in the virtual world, but it is also possible to record video with real and virtual objects in the frame, measure objects and perform other operations.
It is currently unknown when and at what price the OPPO AR Glass 2021 will hit the market. However, developer tools and a comprehensive client SDK will be available in 2021.
