It is difficult to make the design of wireless earbuds original and different from the competitors. However, the company called Nothing founded by Carl Pei, OnePlus co-founder, tried to bring something unusual to the market and introduced the TWS Nothing Ear earbuds in a translucent body and a transparent case.
The presence of a transparent cover on the charging case will allow the user to see if the earbuds are inside the case. The body of the earbuds is also partially transparent, allowing you to see the electronic “insides” of the gadget. In general, the design of the Nothing Ear headphones resembles the appearance of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro model and is made in the form factor of the in-ear plugs.
The presented earbuds are equipped with 11.6 mm dynamic drivers, developed in partnership with the Swedish company Teenage Engineering. Each earbud has three microphones and an active noise cancellation system to cut off the external acoustic background. A function of acoustic transparency is available, allowing you to have a conversation without removing the earpiece.
The electronic Nothing Ear system automatically detects when the earphone is in the ear canal and stops broadcasting audio when the device is pulled out of the ear. Control is exercised via touch panels on the surface of the earbuds. The TWS Nothing Ear earbuds are certified as an IPX4 water-resistant product.
The autonomous operating time of the earbuds with the active noise canceling function turned on is 4.5 hours. When used in this mode, the charging from the case will last up to 25 hours. Disabling noise canceling can increase the operating time to 5.7 and 34 hours, respectively.
Support for fast charging allows you to ensure that the earbuds will work for 1.2 hours after just 10 minutes of recharging. Ten minutes of charging the case will provide Nothing Ear with about 7.5 hours of use. Wired charging uses a USB Type-C connector. It also supports Qi wireless charging.
The Nothing Ear will be sold in retail shops from August 17 for $99 in the US and €99 in Europe.
