Is Microsoft Xbox Lockhart Better Than PlayStation 5?

High-tech corporations Sony and Microsoft are actively preparing for the start of sales of the next generation of game consoles scheduled for the Christmas holidays 2020. Both companies have already made the final presentation, revealing the most important technical characteristics of the future devices, showing the design and unveiling the “secret price”. Meanwhile, according to the insiders, Microsoft has another surprise for gamers, in the form of a console codenamed Xbox Series S “Lockhart”, which is a cheaper version of Xbox Series X.

Numerous insider reports that appeared on the Internet revealed Microsoft’s plans to present a younger model of the next generation of Xbox consoles in August. According to some sources, the original game console, hiding under the name Xbox Lockhart, was to be announced at E3 2020 annual event in June. However, the pandemic has made adjustments to Microsoft’s strategy. Thus, after the E3 cancellation, Lockhart’s presentation will take place in August.

According to the insider sources, Xbox Lockhart will receive an overclocked processor that is comparable to the CPU of PlayStation 5. Though other sources claim that the younger version will run on the same processor as the main Xbox Series X model. The console will also support ray tracing technology.

Another insider source reported that Xbox Lockhart will receive 7.5 GB of usable RAM and its GPU performance will be 4 TFLOPS. In the meantime, Xbox Series X will receive 13.5 GB of used RAM and the performance of 12 TFLOPS.
Thereby, the cheaper and less productive Xbox Lockhart will respond to Sony’s intention to release two versions of PlayStation 5 (with and without a floppy drive) for a more complete market coverage.
