DJI Comes up with Foldable Drones Mavic 2 Pro & Zoom

DJI Company presented the second generation of drones from the Mavic line. There are two new items: the flagship Mavic 2 Pro model and Mavic 2 Zoom with an optical zoom.

The filling, body and design of both models are absolutely identical. The difference is in the camera modules. The development of DJI Mavic 2 Pro was assisted by the manufacturer of Hasselblad cameras. The device is complemented with a one-inch sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels and a variable aperture of f/2.8-f/11. The quadrocopter can shoot 10-bit HDR video.

The sensor of the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom model is smaller, but there is a 12-megapixel lens, changing if necessary the focal length from 22 to 48 millimeters. By switching, you can optically zoom the picture twice. By using the program zoom, you can get a fourfold enlargement of the picture and video. This allows you to shoot complex, unpredictable objects from afar.

Mavic 2 Zoom is complemented with several new shooting modes that use the advantages of the camera module. For example, there is Dolly Zoom for shooting a video. In this mode, the drone automatically changes the focal length during its operation, so the effect of expanding space is created.

You can also take pictures with the resolution of 48 megapixels. The camera combines 9 photos for this purpose. Both models use a system that optically stabilizes the image. Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom can shoot videos in 4K-format (bitrate up to 100 MB/sec) and support the shooting functions of Super Resolution, Hyperlapse and Quickshoot. The recorded video is stored in the internal memory that reaches 8GB. There is also a slot for microCD memory cards. Full HD-signal transmission in the online mode is possible from a distance of up to 8 km with the new OcuSync 2.0 data transmission system.

One charge will be enough for the drones to work for 31 minutes. They fly at the speed of up to 72 kilometers per hour. The system of blades and engines of these drones is redesigned for the new versions to work much quieter than the previous ones. In general, the new items look like the first model from the series, which had folding blades and a compact body. Thanks to these improvements, they can be stacked in any bags.

New drones have risen in price in comparison with the first generation of Mavic. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro version will cost $1,449. The cost of DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is $1,249. The sets with DJI Googles RE glasses are even more expensive: $1,898 and $1,698 respectively.
