Samsung not only pays attention to the development of mobile communications, but also creates high-performance modern laptops that can compete with advanced models. During the presentation at the Galaxy Unpacked 2019 event, the South Korean developers presented their Samsung Galaxy Book S laptop with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx processor running on Windows 10, along with Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ smartphones.
The new model has compact dimensions that match classic ultra-thin laptops. The 13.3-inch Full HD screen supports touch control (10 simultaneous touches). The geometric dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Book S are 305.2×203.2×6.2-11.8 mm, and its mass is 0.96 kg. The keyboard is equipped with backlight which turns on independently, with regard to the illumination of the working area.
The hardware runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 8-core 64-bit processor (2.84 GHz + 1.8 GHz). The chip is made using the 7 nm technology. The main memory of the laptop depends on the configuration: 256 GB or 512 GB. Up to 1 TB of expandable memory is available due to microSD cards. Random access memory of LPDDR4X reaches 8 GB.
During the presentation, Samsung representatives have said that the processor installed in the laptop surpasses the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 model according to the productivity of computing operations by 40%, and according to graphics processing – by 80%.
The developers have made significant progress in ensuring autonomy. The Samsung Galaxy Book S model is equipped with a 42 Wh battery, which provides up to 23 hours of work without recharging despite a significant increase in computer performance. In addition, the laptop uses a passive cooling system, which reduces noise during its operation.
The new Samsung Galaxy Book 2 laptop supports Gigabit LTE (Nano SIM slot), GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), Dolby Atmos, and Windows Hello. There is a USB Type-C connector, an HD camera and a fingerprint scanner. The computer runs on Windows 10 Home/Pro.
Samsung Galaxy Book 2 will go on sale in the fall of 2019, in the color scheme Earthy Gold or Mercury Gray, at the price of $999.
